Read: Romans 8:1-11

Memory Verse: 2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

We had a former member, a Marine named Pete Coronado, leave Hawaii for embassy duty. He served in two different countries. Each of those Embassies was the sovereign territory of the United States even though they were located in the middle of a foreign country. American laws applied to everyone that abided in the embassy.

Not only was the embassy sovereign territory, but the Ambassador was considered in the sovereign territory wherever he went. In his car, at the store, on the beach, anywhere; he was “in America” with all of the rights and privileges that go with it.

Second Corinthians 5:17-21 reminds us “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” Because we are “in Christ” we are Ambassadors for Him in this world. Wherever we are we are under His sovereignty and protection.

Meditation for the Day: Live your life in the freedoms that God has provided for us and serve as His representative in this world.

Assignment: Think about what an Ambassador does and how he represents his country in a foreign land. How should you represent the Lord as His Ambassador to this world?

For Fun: What country would you like to be an Ambassador to and why?
