Read: 2 Timothy 1:5-7

Memory Verse: 1 John 5:12-13

He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

There are certain special days in your life you never forget: The day you were born. The day you graduated from High School or college. When you said “I do” and got married. Seeing your baby for the first time. Granted you may not always remember the date (which can get you into trouble!) but you will never forget experiencing that special day.

If you have ever been in the military, you will remember the day that you put up your right hand and repeated the oath of enlistment. For me, it was March 17, 1973, at the MEPs station in Oakland, California. The next day I was on a plane to San Antonio, TX. for basic training.

The words I said that day were: “I, Wayne Surface, Do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.” I don’t think I fully understood that day how that simple oath of allegiance would change the entire course of my life.

I also remember the day, as a 14-year-old boy, that I prayed the simple prayer of salvation: “Lord Jesus, save me a sinner.” I don’t remember the date, but I can remember doing it. Those simple words changed not only the course of my life but also gave me eternal life! Do you remember the day you prayed and asked Jesus to save you? The words are simple, but the decision is monumental.

Meditation for the Day: Take some time to recall the circumstances of the day you got saved and why you trusted Christ.

Assignment: Take a moment to write out your testimony of salvation and share it with someone. Write and thank those who brought you to Christ.

For Fun: Make an album about your salvation. Include pictures of you, others involved, and the place where you were. Add some special memories from that time in your life.
