Read: John 8:31-38

Memory Verse: John 8:32

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

There are many reasons why I am glad I am not a woman (don’t get me wrong, I love and respect women but I don’t want to be one!): First, because women have babies. If men had the babies, there would be no babies! The second is that women are married to men and I feel sorry for my wife having to live with me! Third, women are slaves to fashion; doing things like putting holes in their ears, wearing high heels, and having to wear skirts, especially in windy weather.

I wore a skirt and high heels once (no I am not a cross-dresser) in a skit that we did at teen camp. I just about died trying to walk on those high-heels. I don’t know how you ladies do it! And the skirt? It is hard to do anything in a skirt.

What is amazing is that the soldiers in the Bible times wore essentially what was a skirt. In battle, he would tuck it up into his belt to give him the freedom to move and fight. Truth gives us freedom. I like what Mark Twain said; “If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.” One lie leads to another and then another. Pretty soon you are all tangled up in your lies and it all comes crashing down.

In 3 John 1:3-4 John “rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” When you are walking in the truth, you don’t have to remember any of the lies, just live the truth.

Meditation for the Day: Are there any lies that you have been living or telling that you need to get right with God or others?

Assignment: Choose one area that you have not been completely honest about. How are you going to correct this lie? Who do you need to talk to or what do you need to change?

For Fun: If you are a man and you have never tried to walk in high-heels, give it a try (just not in public).
